Rating system · Tournament Elo
Tournament Elo (WPWR-style).
Elo-style ratings derived from tournament results, used by several padel platforms.
Scale: ~1000 — 3000
What it is
Several padel apps and tournament platforms calculate Elo-style ratings purely from sanctioned-event outcomes. Higher numbers reflect both raw skill and tournament participation. They differ from recreational ratings (like Playtomic) by ignoring pickup play entirely.
How it's calculated
Classic Elo math, but the input pool is restricted to sanctioned tournaments or platform-tracked competitive events. Some platforms use ranking points rather than head-to-head Elo, but the result is similar.
Where it's used
Tournament-focused platforms and federations. Often shown alongside FIP P-tier as a continuous companion to the categorical tier.
Strengths
- ✓Continuous (better resolution than P-tier)
- ✓Match-results-driven (objective)
- ✓Useful for seeding tournaments
Limitations
- ⊘Excludes most padel players (recreational doesn't count)
- ⊘Different platforms compute differently — not directly comparable across apps
- ⊘Tournament participation can inflate or depress the rating independent of skill
