A hitting stance where the front foot steps across toward the target, allowing maximum weight transfer through the shot
Definition
A hitting stance where the front foot steps across toward the target, allowing maximum weight transfer through the shot. Closed stance produces the most powerful groundstrokes but requires more time to set up — making it primarily useful on slower balls.
On slower-paced balls with time to set up: return of serve at the back wall, attacking drives when the opponent is out of position.
Step the front foot diagonally forward toward the target as you begin the backswing, then rotate fully through the contact.
