Developing belief in your abilities through preparation, practice wins, and mental reinforcement.
Definition
Confidence building is the deliberate process of developing belief in your technical abilities, tactical understanding, and competitive resilience. Methods include: mastering fundamentals, practice-point wins, positive self-talk, visualizing success, and reflecting on past match victories. Confidence grows through successful execution and repeated challenge success. Conversely, confidence erodes from errors, poor preparation, and negative experiences. Coaches build confidence by creating achievable challenges (not too easy, not impossible) and celebrating effort and progress. Low-confidence players are more risk-averse and hesitant; high-confidence players are aggressive and decisive.
Origin: Sports psychology; foundational to competitive performance.

Partially—short-term confidence from recent wins; deep confidence takes time.
