The line dividing left and right service boxes, running parallel to sidelines.
Definition
The center service line runs perpendicular to the net, dividing the service box into left and right halves. It runs from the net to the service line, bisecting the court. Serves must land in the service box on the same side as the server (e.g., server on right serves to the opponent's right service box). The center service line is a fundamental boundary for serve placement and creates the asymmetrical service geometry unique to padel. In doubles, the non-serving partner stands behind the center service line. The line must be clearly marked on tournament courts and is referenced in serve validity rulings.
Origin: Inherited from tennis court geometry, adapted for padel's half-court serving system.
