A player who primarily positions at the baseline, responsible for constructing points with depth and accuracy.
Definition
The baseline player in padel doubles positions primarily at or near the baseline and has key responsibilities including constructing rallies with solid shots, passing opponents at the net, and supporting their net partner with court control. Strong baseline players provide consistency, depth, and tactical shot-making that allows their net partner to dominate at the net. Baseline players need excellent stroke mechanics, court sense, and the ability to produce winners from the back court. In modern padel, even baseline players must be capable of advancing to the net quickly. The baseline player is often taller and stronger for power generation from the back court.
