Corner Defense Positioning — Padel Drills

Master corner positioning and defensive techniques to prevent angle winners and recover difficult court positions. Corner defense prevents opponents from exploiting sideline angles.

Technique: step by step

1

Wide Court Positioning

Recognize when opponents are attempting angle shots, positioning yourself wider than normal to cover sideline areas.

2

Anticipatory Movement

Read opponent positioning and shot setup, anticipating directional intent before they strike.

3

Quick Lateral Movement

Execute explosive lateral movement toward the corner area where the opponent is targeting.

4

Recovery Shot Execution

Strike the wide ball with a recovery shot, either blocking it or driving it forward depending on court positioning.

5

Direction Prioritization

Prioritize returning the ball to safety (deep court) over attempting winners from corner positions.

6

Court Recovery

Move toward the center court after the recovery shot, resetting your positioning for the next exchange.

Coach tip

Stay alert for angle attempts; anticipate the opponent's directional intent and position wider than normal.
