A ball is out if it lands beyond the court boundary lines or glass walls; lines themselves are IN.
Ball out calls in padel determine whether a shot is valid or results in a point loss. A ball is considered out if it lands completely outside the court boundary lines (baseline, sideline) or beyond the glass walls. The important principle is that the lines are IN—a ball landing on or touching the line is a valid shot. For boundary calls, the entire ball must be outside the line to be called out; even the smallest contact with the line or inside area is IN. In professional padel, umpires or line judges make out calls. In casual play, players make their own line calls on the opposite side of the court. Honesty and good faith are expected in line calls. In glass-walled courts, the ball bouncing off the glass wall is in play and can be used strategically. Out calls are often the most disputed aspect of padel, so developing line-call consistency and confidence is important.
What if the ball is partially on the line?
If any part of the ball is on or inside the line, it's IN.
Who makes out calls in casual play?
Players on the opposite court make calls on their side; if both disagree, replay the point.
