What is the difference between padel and tennis?
Padel and tennis are related but distinct sports with several key differences. Court size: padel courts are 20×10m (enclosed), tennis courts are 23.77×10.97m (open). Walls: padel courts have glass walls and metal mesh that are integral to play — balls can bounce off walls like squash; tennis has no walls. Racket: padel uses a solid, perforated racket with no strings; tennis uses a strung oval frame. Scoring: both use 15-30-40-game scoring but padel uses a no-AD golden point at deuce. Serve: padel is served underarm (below waist); tennis is an overhead serve. Bounces: padel allows one bounce off a wall after the ground bounce. The result is a faster, more tactical game with longer rallies and less reliance on power.
