A stroke played before the ball bounces on the court, typically at net or mid-court height.
Definition
The volea (volley) is a fundamental padel shot executed before the ball touches the ground. Volleys can be hit with topspin, slice, or flat techniques depending on the situation and ball trajectory. They're essential for net play and quick point construction. A good volley requires excellent reflexes, hand-eye coordination, and shot anticipation. Volleys are offensive when hit downward into the court or defensive when used to redirect high balls. In modern padel, net players spend significant time on volley technique development since most court time is spent at or near the net.
A volley is hit before the ball bounces. A half-volley is hit immediately after the bounce, near the ground. They use different techniques.
