A defensive tactical pattern of consecutive lobs, extending rallies and frustrating aggressive opponents.
Definition
Lob-lob-lob is a defensive tactical pattern where the player executes multiple consecutive lobs, often the same type (typically high defensive lobs), forcing opponents into extended vertical play. This defensive cycle extends rallies, frustrates aggressive opponents, and creates opportunities for errors. Lob-lob-lob cycles are used against aggressive net players or when the player is positioned defensively and needs to extend rallies. While repetitive, this pattern can be tactically effective by disrupting aggressive opponents' rhythm. In recreational play, lob cycles are common; in professional play, they're used sparingly and strategically rather than as default patterns.
Origin: Tactical defensive pattern; terminology evolved in padel coaching.
