The Squeezer
Pressure Builders systematically increase difficulty on opponents through consistent pressure escalation. They build leads gradually and protect them through maintained pressure.
To play like a Pressure Builder, develop excellent understanding of tempo and pace management. Start rallies with moderate intensity and escalate pressure progressively. Move opponents around the court, gradually restricting their options. Use serve placement to build early pressure. Return aggressively to prevent opponent establishing rhythm. As rallies develop, increase your aggression and pressure. Build depth progressively—hit shorter balls early, then deeper balls as pressure mounts. Maintain consistency while escalating pressure so you don't error out. Study opponent comfort zones and push them away from those areas. Build leads gradually rather than seeking immediate dominance.
To beat Pressure Builders, attack early before they establish pressure rhythm. Hit aggressively in the first few shots to prevent them from building escalation sequences. Serve aggressively to limit their early pressure. Return with aggression. Don't allow them to establish patterns. Take the initiative so you're building pressure on them rather than absorbing it.
Best partner: the net dominator
Tough matchup: the baseline slugger
Is pressure building slow?
Not necessarily—Pressure Builders can escalate pressure rapidly. The escalation is systematic, not necessarily slow.
